PERSONALITY
✖
He may act like one of the cool kids at first, one who comes from money and can easily get his hands on the latest gadgets and such. However, Hunter can be quite manipulative and sneaky. He's been known to use underhanded tactics to get what he wants, such as vandalizing a park so he can get footage from the collar of his hairless cat or rigging a contest so that he wins the chance to spend a day with Triple-D. He’s also successfully manipulated a dalmatian into trusting him enough to let him into the dalmatian’s house.
Unfortunately, Hunter can be a bit too overconfident at times, which may allow someone to take advantage of an early victory. He’s also not too good under stress, especially after the shipping crate incident (more on that later). He may panic when he realizes he’s on the losing end, which tends to lead to bad decisions. Bitter feelings and desperation also cloud his thinking, to the point where he overlooks major details and comes up with harebrained schemes. He’s better at playing the long con than getting fast results.
Under all that though, Hunter really wants someone to belong to. The only family he really has is his Great Aunt Cruella… Who really doesn't care for him as much as she's callously using him for a lackey. Hunter only did her bidding to get her to notice him, and he really liked it when she praised him… But at the same time, her fits of rage have driven him to tears on more than one occasion. Not to mention his horror when Cruella was ready to abandon him or even have him killed with the dogs the moment he stopped being useful to her. Heck, the poor kid's got mental scars from the time he got locked in a shipping container for six months and his great aunt didn't even bother to check on him. (Again, we’ll talk about the shipping crate later.)
Despite all the bad things he willingly did for Cruella, he’s horrified to realize she was planning to kill the whole family of dalmatians in the process of making their fur into a coat. It's really telling that the lonely spoiled brat doesn't get jealous about the dogs being a big happy family while also drawing a line at violence to animals. He now sees his great aunt as a monster for going to such lengths, and after she threw him in with the dogs it’s very unlikely that he’ll want to work with anyone like her again… In fact, he actively regrets his actions and starts helping the dalmatians. Though he’s still afraid of her, he did manage to stand up to her at the end and help free the puppies from her clutches.
So about that shipping crate… After his first attempt to capture the dogs ended in him being locked in a shipping container meant to transport dogs, Hunter spent six long months having to practically live like a dog to survive. The incident has taken a toll on the poor boy’s psyche, and now he occasionally has moments where he forgets he’s a human and starts thinking like an excitable puppy! Instincts and all. The dog-like behavior is usually triggered by dog stimuli, like having a squeaky toy thrown at him or seeing the postman on duty. This makes him easily distracted, but it also doesn’t take much to snap him out of this state. One could simply startle him out of this state in Canon.

PERMISSIONS

OOC
BACKTAGGING: Maybe. I am bad at this.
THREAD HOPPING: Network posts yeah, Log posts... Ask me.
FOURTH-WALLING: Not for his own specific canon, but since Cruella de Vil happens to be a well known villian I think it might be fun for others to recognize her. After all, it's technichally canon that someone wrote a popular song about her back in the day. Why not a movie? Or a remake of that movie? Or weird sequels and such?
IN CHARACTER
SHIPPING: Found family is 100% okay but I'm not looking to give him love interests outside his age range.
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Yes, within reason.
FIGHTING: Slapstick is okay, but brutal fighting is not. Hunter is a child and I would not like to play out any nasty fight scenes with him.
PSYCHIC POWERS: Yes. This is a normal human, even if there is some residual trauma in there.
INJURY: Ask.
DEATH: No.
CONTENT WARNINGS
Hunter unfortunately is a victim of child abuse from Cruella, mainly emotional abuse, plus two counts of child endangerment. He won't readily talk about it with strangers, but the trauma might come up in certain situations. After everything he's been through, he's not gonna be happy about violence against animals and is probably the only de Vil alive to genuinely dislike killing animals for their fur.

Hunter tends to lean twoards fashion that might be found on a fashion influencer of the 2010's (MINUS FUR IF HE CAN HELP IT). He likes how red and black looks on him, so you'd probably see a lot of that in his wardrobe.
Hunter's normal outfit consists of an oversized collared shirt, a red leather jacket, black skinny jeans and red sneakers, which he accessorizes with a black necktie and fingerless gloves. Also shown to wear basic makeup (or at least eyeliner).
As of February 2022, Hunter's finally managed to get his hair trimmed to a more reasonable length. The barber misunderstood the kid's instructions, so instead of going back to his old look he got what looks like a weird fusion of that and the messy hair he came into Songerein with. Could be worse!
He doesn't do anything fancy, apart from getting his hair back to what it originally was.

This is what happens when you mix Hunter's habit of randomly thinking he's a dog with dreammotion energy. Low energy version, he only gains the teeth, nails, sense of smell, and fluffy tail of a dog. When this power is boosted (or if he's dreamwalking) he will fully transform into a goldendoodle puppy that's still wearing his shirt collar and tie around his neck.
He doesn't immediately transform back when he snaps out of his dog behavior, which can be a blessing or a curse depending on the situation. Getting out of partial transformation is easy, but reversing a full transformation may take a little longer. At least he can still speak human as a dog.

SMARTPHONE
The latest model (for 2019), optimized for taking and storing pictures and video. Unfortunately, there is no cell reception in this world, so it ends up being a very fancy camera.
JOURNAL
A hardcover spiral notebook. Features include tabbed sections, elastic closure, a loop for quill storage, and a cover design that almost exactly matches his phone case.
LANTERN
Resembles one of those high tech lantern speakers, but without the speaker. The color of the lights change with Hunter's mood. When being used to communicate with others, the lights will flicker with their voice and change with the speaker's mood.
